چکیده

Nitrogen fixation is an important and challenging transformation in chemistry. It currently achieved by the Haber–Bosch process that reduces N2 to NH3 on large scale but at cost of a huge environmental footprint. In search for greener processes, electrochemically driven reduction might become sustainable answer. The development molecular homogeneous catalysis has gained momentum over last decades, we focus this review emerging electrochemical systems based catalysts fixation.

Electrochemical Dinitrogen Fixation

Materials that catalyze efficient electrochemical N2 fixation would open up the possibility of using an N2/NH3 cycle to store and utilize energy from diffuse renewable sources. In such a cycle, N2 and H2O would be electrolytically transformed to NH3 and O2 in an electrolyzer powered by a renewable electricity source. With existing technologies, NH3 can be utilized in solid oxide fuel cells or c...

Iron–dinitrogen coordination chemistry: Dinitrogen activation and reactivity

Understanding the coordination of dinitrogen to iron is important for understanding biological nitrogen fixation aswell as for designing synthetic systems that are capable of reducing N2 to NH3 undermild conditions. This review discusses recent advances in iron–dinitrogen coordination complexes and describes the factors that contribute to the degree of activation of the coordinatedN2. The react...

Recent advances in understanding molecular mechanisms of primary afferent activation.

Thermal, mechanical, and chemical stimuli depolarise specialised damage sensing neurons to initiate electrical signals that may ultimately result in a sensation of pain. Over the past decade many of the receptors that transduce these signals have been identified by molecular cloning. In the absence of specific blockers, null mutant mice have proved valuable in exploring the function of these sp...

Electrochemical activation of molecular nitrogen at the Ir/YSZ interface.

Nitrogen is often used as an inert background atmosphere in solid state studies of electrode and reaction kinetics, of solid state studies of transport phenomena, and in applications e.g. solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), sensors and membranes. Thus, chemical and electrochemical reactions of oxides related to or with dinitrogen are not supposed and in general not considered. We demonstrate by a st...
